Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the TasteProof mobile app. By installing or using the app you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the app.
1. What TasteProof is
TasteProof is a London restaurant discovery and booking concierge. We surface curated picks, scores, descriptions, and live availability where the underlying booking platform exposes it. We are not a restaurant, we are not a booking platform, and we do not operate any of the booking flows. Bookings are handled by SevenRooms and OpenTable, or by walking into the restaurant.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use TasteProof.
3. Your account
To use TasteProof you create an account using one of the following methods:
- Email and password. We send you a one-time confirmation link to verify your email before activating the account.
- Sign in with Apple. Your Apple ID acts as your identity. Apple may hide your real email and forward to a private relay address.
- Sign in with Google. Your Google account acts as your identity. We receive your name, email and profile picture.
You can also continue as a guest without an account; in that case your data is tied to an anonymous device identifier rather than an email, and is not portable between devices.
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. Tell us at admin@tasteproof.co.uk if you suspect unauthorised use.
You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account. This permanently removes your saved restaurants, ratings, bookings, watches, push token, and authentication record from our systems. Your subscription, if any, is managed separately by Apple or Google and must be cancelled there. See the Privacy Policy for the full list of what is held and how to delete it.
4. Free tier
The free tier gives each device:
- 5 Ask queries per calendar month. The counter resets on the first of each month.
- 5 Book queries total (lifetime). Once used, these do not reset.
These limits are subject to change as we balance cost and quality. We will give 14 days' notice in-app before any reduction.
5. Pro subscription
TasteProof Pro is an auto-renewing subscription. Each plan offers a 7-day free trial, after which auto-renewal begins.
Launch pricing — available for the first six months after public launch. Subscribers during this window keep this rate for the life of their continuous subscription:
- Monthly: £4.99 per month after a 7-day free trial, auto-renewing each month.
- Annual: £39.99 per year after a 7-day free trial, auto-renewing each year (equivalent to roughly £3.33 per month).
Standard pricing — for subscriptions started after the launch window:
- Monthly: £6.99 per month after a 7-day free trial, auto-renewing each month.
- Annual: £59.99 per year after a 7-day free trial, auto-renewing each year.
Pro includes:
- Unlimited Ask concierge queries.
- Unlimited Book queries with live SevenRooms and OpenTable availability.
- The Watch list - we monitor fully booked SevenRooms restaurants for cancellations and push you a notification when a slot opens in your window.
- Priority recommendations and personalisation tuning.
Subscriptions are billed by Apple via the App Store or by Google via Google Play. We never see your payment card.
- Auto-renewal: your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. The same payment method is charged at the same price (subject to any change we have notified you about in advance).
- Cancellation: cancel at any time in your Apple ID Subscription settings (iOS) or your Play Store Subscriptions screen (Android). Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the current period ends.
- Refunds: handled by Apple or Google according to their respective refund policies. We do not issue refunds directly because we do not receive the payment directly.
- Free trial: if a trial is offered, you can cancel before the trial ends to avoid being charged. The trial is single-use per Apple ID or Google account.
- Price changes: we will notify you in-app at least 30 days before any price increase, in line with App Store and Play Store rules.
Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google account at confirmation of purchase. Your subscription is governed by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy.
6. Restore Purchases
If you reinstall the app or switch device, tap Restore Purchases in Profile or on the paywall to restore your existing subscription using your Apple ID or Google account.
7. Bookings
Availability slots shown in TasteProof are sourced from the public booking widgets of restaurants and platforms. We refresh them when you ask. Slots can disappear between the moment you see them and the moment you tap, because other people are booking at the same time. When you tap a slot, you leave TasteProof and complete the booking on the restaurant's chosen platform. The cancellation policy of that restaurant or platform applies.
8. No guarantees
TasteProof's recommendations, scores, and descriptions are editorial opinion combined with publicly available information. We do our best to keep them accurate but we do not guarantee that any restaurant will be available, open, or to your taste, or that you will enjoy any meal you eat as a result of using the app. Reviews and ratings shown in the app are subjective.
9. Third-party content
Restaurant photos shown in the app are sourced from approved publishers (Hot Dinners, Time Out, Square Meal, Infatuation, Michelin, and similar) under fair-use editorial reference. Their attribution stays on each image where it is shown. We do not modify the underlying images.
10. Acceptable use
When you use TasteProof you agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract our database or scoring methodology.
- Scrape the app or backend programmatically.
- Submit ratings or feedback that is abusive, defamatory, or false.
- Use the app to harass any person or restaurant.
- Circumvent free-tier limits by rotating device identifiers.
11. Intellectual property
The TasteProof name, logo, scoring methodology, written descriptions, and visual design are owned by us. The content you create in the app (ratings, queries, swipes) remains yours; you grant us a non-exclusive licence to use it to operate and improve the service, including to personalise recommendations for you.
12. Disclaimers
The app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, except those that cannot be excluded under UK consumer law. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any specific restaurant will be available.
13. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by UK law, our total liability to you in any 12-month period is capped at the greater of (a) £100 or (b) the subscription fees you paid in those 12 months. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for any liability that cannot be excluded by law (including your statutory rights as a UK consumer).
14. Termination
You can stop using the app and delete your data at any time. We can suspend or terminate access if you breach these terms - in particular the acceptable-use rules. We will give reasonable notice except where the breach requires immediate action (such as scraping or abuse).
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be heard in the courts of England and Wales. Your statutory rights under UK consumer law are not affected, including the right to use alternative dispute resolution where available.
16. Changes to these terms
If we make a material change, we will post a notice in-app at least 14 days before it takes effect. Continuing to use the app after the change takes effect counts as acceptance.
